What did you do last summer? Aka #APGala…

Most of you know of my involvement with SchoolBOX, a local non-profit which involves local kids and groups to build schools in Nicaragua. (P.S. They’re actually hosting a cool event this coming Friday if you’re bored, the ever popular Latin Fiesta).

I’ve actually spent more than last summer working on something called the CTV Presents the Amazing Person Gala  in support of SchoolBOX. We call it the AP Gala. It’s been going on for close to a year now but it’s been a lot of fun. It helps to have some great folks at the table. We also might have a glass of wine or two during our meetings, usually some great stuff from our sponsor (Rosehall Run)…

The Gala will highlight some of Ottawa’s unsung heroes, as featured in Kimothy Walker’s Amazing People segment. We have close to 50 AP’s that range from an amputee climbing mountains to cool people raising money locally for worthy causes to some folks living with challenges and thriving.

I’m looking forward to the night in question in just over a month from now. Not only because it’s been a while in the making, but also from what I know, you will cry, laugh and truly enjoy yourself on the magical night at the Ottawa Convention Centre’s Trillium Room. We’re trying to cater to the next generation of community builders so it will not be a rubber chicken. Fun and fabulous all the way!
