Throwing down the gauntlet: 150 day run challenge. Challenge accepted!
Posted In: Running November 1st, 2013 divider No Comments »I’ve been feeling a bit sluggish especially with my fitness level so I needed a bit of a challenge.
If you follow the blog, you probably know the #31in31 challenge I do in January. Well this year I’m extending it a bit, well by 120 days or so. I’m planning on running everyday for 150 days in a row. It sounds daunting even for me as I read it but I know it’s just what the doctor ordered.
This has been a long time coming. A few years of #31in31 has shown me that not only is it good to build the running base but it’s also a lot of fun. And ChiRunning makes it possible for me. And it might be just the kick in the pants I need.
I’m also looking to conquer the ENDSURE race I had to drop out of last winter so it will provide a bit of motivation for me. Running everyday through the Canadian winter should help with an offroad 50k in North Dakota in March.
I also find being busy and having a goal helps me focus and keep my eye on the prize. It seems I got away from that a bit and if I want to do another longer race this coming spring/summer (prob a Half Ironman) this will help tremendously.
The rules will stay the same:
-Run must be at least 30 minutes
-No speed requirement whatsoever
-You can skip a day but then you must run on two separate occasions for 30 minutes on a subsequent day
-You can run on the treadmill but just do me a favour and concentrate on form if you do
I hope you will keep me accountable by asking for results and looking for updates by searching the #150in150 hashtag on Twitter.
I know this is very selfish but I really need it. And you folks are always there for me!
Don’t despair, I’ll still run the #31in31 in January. But you’re mostly safe until then!
