On a cool, clear September morning, over 500 runners gathered on Parliament Hill under blue skies to Run 4 a Cause.

Run 4 a Cause is a 5K run in downtown Ottawa that celebrates charities of all kinds and the runners who support them.  This year’s event took place on Saturday, September 28.

The concept of Run 4 a Cause grew from organizer, Joe Rios’s idea last year to gather all the charity running teams together into one place for one, big all-inclusive run for charity.

There is truly a feeling of celebration in the air, and the energy from the runners who gather on the Hill is positive and joyful.

These are people who do more than just write a cheque to charity: they are actively and personally involved in making a difference in the world.

After the run, participants mix and mingle on the rooftop terrace of the Rideau Centre where there are prizes, après-run yoga, socializing, photos, treats by Vega and…donations for the charity who has the most representatives at the run.

This year, first prize, a $1000 donation, went to Team Ronald McDonald House:

Second prize, $500 donation, went to Good Guys Tri.

Third prize was split between Team Mito and Team D.I.F.D. who both received $250.

Charities and runners, mark your calendars for 2014: Run 4 a Cause is an event not to be missed!
