Soak it all up! Another way to be efficient…

I wrote last week about being efficient in your workouts but there’s a bigger reason for that. Being efficient in your life means you can do more of what you truly enjoy, whether it’s fishing like my boy Brad Paisley, playing cribbage or bird watching.

That’s why I love weekends since you’re “off the clock” for the most part. You can simply enjoy a cup of coffee, a chat with an old friend or  enjoy a silly romantic comedy (it might happen from time to time…). No one is looking at you with that “get back to work” grin.

But how do you make the most of every weekend? I say simply pack it with as many enjoyable activities as possible and then soak them all up!

I’m still working on it but I try to be present in everything I do, and that includes my downtime. My R&R has become a vital part of my life, not just for pure enjoyment but also for the recuperation aspect. I’ve learned over the years that you need to recharge the batteries on a consistent basic if you want to perform at your best.

So this weekend I did a few activities including some golf, some cycling, some running and some R&R. I tried to take a moment in each to simply have a breath and take it all in, a sort of “smell the roses” moment. It made me smile and made me very grateful.

As you know, life is not always about puppy dogs and unicorns but the more you can simply be in the moment, the more you material to go to in the tough moments. And that’s usually what helps me get through the tough stuff.

So channel your inner chia seed and soak up as much as you can!
