So I met local entrepreneur and fitness buff Stephanie Karlovits a few years ago. I thought it was pretty cool when she started talking about functional training and creating a space where people of all shapes/sizes/backgrounds could train with expert help.
I love the fact she gets involved with all kinds of cool things including a TV show. She also donated some Epic Fitness packages to the AP Gala silent auction so I liked her even more!
She also mentioned a conference she was working on which piqued my interest. She was talking about Move #Ottawa, something that got started in 2013 since she was tired of going out of town to hear fresh ideas from cool speakers. The conference is billed as Ottawa’s only interdisciplinary health and fitness conference for professionals but I’m sure fitness fanatics would learn a lot as well.
This year’s conference is happening on November 15-16 and boasts 10 speakers including four internationally acclaimed and 6 local heroes who will take you through days of education, inspiration, insight and captivation.
There’s a lot happening in three days from a special one day pre-conference Olympic Lifting workshop on Friday, November 14 taught by Francis Luna to sessions on motivation, supplement myths and facts, medication and exercise implications and the state of the fitness industry presented by interesting folks.
As you probably know, I’m all about continuous learning. It’s even better when cool speakers come to your own backyard. Check it out at move-everywhere.com.
