Please provide feedback!

You probably see that statement in a lot of places. I actually take it to heart.

I provide feedback whenever I can. Not only because I want to be heard (most people do, it’s okay) but also I think my opinion can help the person/company. I’m also very open to feedback, which I know is not always the case.

I had some great feedback recently. Someone took my online engagement workshop and they were not happy with the session. It happens. So we didn’t charge them and I actually took the time to revamp the session with their comments in mind. It will definitely help down the road. I don’t know a presenter worth their salt who doesn’t love feedback, whether it’s good or bad. It lets me know if I connect with my audience.

The ChiRunning workshop I give, for example, has been modified over the past three years with all the feedback I’ve received. And now I get better feedback. Like magic!

I also two people contact me in the past week and tell me to keep doing what I’m doing for two different reasons. These people have never commented on my blog or my social media networks but want to let me know they value my work in person. Does it get any better than that?

Social media has made it much easier to provide feedback, for good and for bad. I think opening lines of communication is good for the most part but also opens them up for abuse. So be responsible out there.

But do me (and yourself) a favour and please provide feedback!

A great post by Blaise Dubois on nature vs nurture. He takes a comical look at how we try to fight nature and most of the time we outsmart ourselves. He calls in “Politically Incorrect” but it’s mostly tongue-in-cheek!

Happy reading!
