Motion creates emotions…

Motion creates emotions…

This saying has been a saving grace for a while for me. And it also comes from one of my favourite movies, 2000’s Boiler Room.

We all have mornings (or days) where we’re not in the mood. It’s not always easy to “fake it until you make it”. For me it’s especially bad when it’s something I have to do that I’m not passionately about or quite mundane.

Having a big “why” really helps. This was especially true during my Ironman days. When I didn’t want to be embarrassed on the course. Once you get started, it’s much easier to keep going. But sometimes it’s not always easy to get started, I know that.

Sometimes when you don’t do like doing something, just take a quick break and walk around. It will most likely wake you (and your brain) up more than a double espresso. There’s some serious research behind it or you can just trust me!

If I’m not in the mood for much, I usually just head out for some fresh air. It’s usually a ride or a run. It gets me to change my frame of mind and almost instantly puts me in a different and more positive mood. Exercise of any kind is especially beneficial since it gets the blood flowing in the body and the brain.

On a cold spring morning like today, I need it. So I will be heading out shortly for a run and some golf practice. What will you do to put a smile on your face on this sunny weekend?

In case you were wondering, my spring tour is continuing with stops in Richmond Hill (Sat May 30), Halifax (Sat June 13), Ottawa (Sun June 28) and Windsor (Sun July 5) in the next two months.
