I had the pleasure of attending Social Capital Conference on the weekend. They call it a one-day learn-athon but to me it’s more of a huge networking event!

It was such a revelation on the weekend: Ottawa has a thriving social media scene. Lots of buzz and a capacity crowd of 220. Not bad for a second year conference on a Saturday!

It was nice to see tons of cool folks again. And see a wide spectrum of speakers. A great opening keynote on the presence of social media and a closing one on how SM can help you feel at home all the way across the world.

I know it’s hard to please everyone, especially in the new world of social media. Folks are all at a different place when it comes to their current situation. How do you cater to the masses? SoCapOtt did a good job as it had four different streams but still so much variance…

It was a pretty full day for me. I was speaking in the first block and then led a roundtable discussion in the last block. My talk was about how social media affects traditional media. A great crowd and a lot of questions so I must have The three rounds of roundtables were great, they kept on getting better and better!

I had the same conundrum as the organizers I think. How do I engage everyone? Keep it basic? Go in-depth? I tried to sprinkle a bit of everything in. I guess the speaker evaluation will tell me if I was successful! ;)

Had a fairly full weekend with another ChiRunning workshop in Ottawa as well on Sunday. The weather was great since we we’re covered at my usual spot at Mooney’s Bay.

Another great group, a lot of keeners! And like I said folks, if you have any questions this is a great venue for them!
