I’m all jacked up on Mountain Dew!

It’s Friday so why not show a clip of a funny movie that has one of my favourite quotes in it (see title of  today’s blog entry). And for all the PC fans, I’m not saying you should talk to you Grandpa like that. I’m just saying enjoy the clip.

There is a bit of truth to the quote as my energy levels are through the roof these days. I’ve modified my food intake to get more veggies and stay away from starchy foods (except after workouts usually). It hasn’t changed my weight actually but I feel so much better.

I start almost everyday with a shake. Not just any shake though. The great thing with my new NutriBullet is that I can put anything in it now and this thing pulverizes it for me. Some of my staples are kale, Greek-style yogurt, pink grapefruit, maca powder, flax seeds, hemp hearts and almond milk.

Not only do I get tons of nutrients but it’s also yummy and filling. That’s what I call the breakfast of champions!

Can’t forget to give an assist to my cups of coffee. They are lifesavers even if I switched to decaf. I just love the taste.

A few great things about the change is that I don’t really get cravings anymore and my energy is steady throughout the day. Actually noticeably higher energy levels and it seems the recovery is much shorter.

One of the other great by-products is the energy I have when I’m training or doing physical activity. Even doing long runs, all I bring with me is some water and a homemade energy bar made of oats, peanut butter, unsweetened apple sauce, and dark chocolate chips. That sustains me for hours.

Don’t get me wrong, I also eat some unhealthy stuff from time to time. I’m human but I live by the 80/20 principles. Aren’t we supposed to indulge from to time? Isn’t that why we train?

    You should post your recipe for the bars. They were yummy!

    Try throwing Ginger in with ORange from time to time in the shakes. Also, raw beets can be oh so good.
    Your blogs are much more interesting these days… must be the Veggie influence. : )
