Old habits die hard. Or do they?

Folks,

We’re creatures of habits, whether we like it or not. I try to pick up good habits and let go of the bad ones. But it’s not always easy. Like I always say, if it was easy, everyone would be doing so well!

I just got around to playing this Wii game my wonderful brother got me during the holidays, NFL Training Camp. It puts you through the paces with NFL-style workouts. What it really does is make mundane exercises fun. I did a few of the challenges this morning and I was sweating and laughing since I was doing this in my living room. I could only imagine what my neighbours would think if they saw me. Then I realized that my neighbours are probably too busy watching TV and getting fat…

It’s not like this game alone will make you look like a rippled NFL’er, but it’s a nice way to get blood flowing early in the morning. Physical fitness is all about building healthy habits that are fun so you can keep doing them and looking forward to it, not dreading it. Weight loss is a total different beast if you ask me and I will talk about that in an upcoming post.

I was doing some running on the spot this morning, some resistance band exercises and some football specific drills. I’m really looking forward to showcasing my real skills. Peyton Manning better be training, that’s all I have to say!

I will leave you with some great quotes about habits to provide some inspiration while you’re sweating it out at the gym, outside or in your living room…

“We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence then, is not an act, but a habit.”
-Aristotle

“Men’s natures are alike; it is their habits that separate them.”
-Confucius
