What are you afraid of?

Spiders? Public speaking? The chair at the dentist?

For the majority of folks, I would assume all of the above. And I’m like most people, except I actually like public speaking. A lot.

I’m currently reading “Secrets of the Millionaire Mind” by T. Harv Eker. A great book but it could be scary for the average person since it mentions money and a lot of attitudes towards it. I don’t know why in our society we can talk about sex, death and rock n’ roll but money is still quite taboo.

I’ll be honest, it’s still quite scary to me too. And I graduated with a business degree and a major in Finance. I love reading stock quotes but don’t ask me about my portfolio. How about them Blue Jays?

For the most part we’re afraid of what we don’t understand. It’s human nature but we can easily go past that. I’m afraid of a few things including being a failure, of heights and maybe commitment but I’m really trying to get to the bottom of things so I can de-mystify those fears.

If you think about it, fear itself is rather irrational but we’re still slaves to it somehow. Everyday I try to learn more about myself and the world so it’s a bit less scary. And I also try to do scary things often.

You might even like public speaking after a bit! ;)
