For every closed door a new one opens, right?

I’ve had to close a few doors recently and it’s never fun. Saying no to someone or not coming through on your promises is one of the worst feelings in the world.

I had to delay my trip to Nicaragua where I would have been building one of the SchoolBOX schools we fundraised for at the Amazing People Gala. It will be a great group of local folks including seven young ladies from the West Ottawa Soccer Club which received scholarships for all the hard work they did.

I also had to cancel my trip to Halifax next weekend due to low registration. That means no Epic Dartmouth and no ChiRunning workshop for me. That’s the downside of being a small business owner, as in if it doesn’t make business sense, it’s very hard to justify.

I also had some close friends (and one of my Godsons) move to the GTA. I know they’re not moving to South Africa but now I have no more Godsons in Ottawa. I guess this means more trips to the GTA where I can see two Godsons in one shot.

I’m treating all of this like an injury. Instead of sulking, I will try to work on getting better so I can hit the ground running once the opportunity presents itself.

In that aspect, I have a pretty exciting meeting this week in Toronto I’m very much looking forward to. It’s funny how things work out and this might have not have happened had I been heading down to Nicaragua.

This also gives me more time and opportunities to find something cool and productive to do with my newfound free time. And this e-book is not going to write itself!

My buddy Scotty will like this as it’s real and not all about puppy dogs and unicorns. He hates all the masking people do. I try not to. I’m a pretty positive person but sometimes it’s harder than others. These days will make the happy days ahead so much sweeter!

Bittersweet days indeed…

Here’s an OBG (oldie but a goodie) from the Globe & Mail. It’s about how your office chair might be slowing  killing you.

A great reminder to sit up straight or walk around for a bit on this early Monday morning!
