So we all age, some of us just enjoy the process more than others. Aging doesn’t have to be all that bad, it comes with a lot of perks like wisdom and tons of memories.

Recently, a lot of research shows that aging on its own is not the main culprit for a lot of what we don’t look forward in our olden days like brittle bones, loss of muscle and slowing of brain activities. Inactivity and obesity have a lot to do with it.

This one article from the New York Times really highlights the fact that you must exercise if you want to age well. It’s all about the use it or lose it principle!

One of my goals is to be active until the day I die. I know that if you’re smart. steady and gentle to the body you can be active for the long run. I want to be one of those hockey players in his 80’s. And it will happen!

Being mindful and aware of your body will make a big difference since we all know our body doesn’t react quite like it used to in our younger days. I used to be able to run a hard 5k cold but I would be sore for days and probably injured if I tried that today.

The great thing about aging is the experience you gather. Even in this advanced age, you still can’t buy experience. I find experience helps me tackle new challenges with confidence, whether it’s a new race or a project at work. Knowing I’ve done something similar in the past shows I have the potential to get this done and get it done well, it’s all up to me.

And don’t forget about the most important muscle in your body; Your brain! Do you ever notice the older whipper snappers are the ones that keep their bodies and minds active. It should be a road map for the rest of us.
