What are your plans for the summer?

I kinda feel like a teacher at the end of the school year…

Are you racing? Taking it easy? Maintaining your fitness? Enjoying the patio time?

I had a discussion with a friend recently about how active people are in the summer versus the winter. I’m still not sure what most people do. It seems some people get out more but are they really more active? Do they really offset those summertime beers/coolers?

There are surely more races but stats show that people who actually race are such a small percentage of the population. The great thing is that people can be active the way they want to be now with apps, the Wii, DVD’s, etc.

The consensus seems to be that most people are more active outside instead of inside a gym or such.

Let me know what you do, I’d love to hear!

I also came across a great article about the benefits of running slow. I find most beginners run too fast for their own good, especially when they make the switch from 5k to longer distances. This might help…

Personally I’ve been running too slow for the most part. Since I have a short(er) tri coming up I will have to start doing some speed training. I’m actually looking forward to it!
