Do you live life by design or by default?

I’m sorry to be asking you such a hard question on a wonderful Friday afternoon but I just had to. I received a wonderful message from an old university friend this week asking how I changed my life since my uni days since it seems life is good these days.

I replied to her that like everyone, I’m a work in progress. I’m just a regular Joe but I’m trying to be very conscious in my day-to-day. I think that has made a huge difference. To me, there’s a big difference between going with the flow and going along for a ride.

I have been doing a lot of work on myself in the past few years to try to figure a few things out. It’s not that my life was bad, I just needed some more direction and purpose. Running and exercise has helped tremendously in the process. And it truly is a process!

Okay, enough with the serious stuff. Enjoy yourself this weekend. Just do me a favour and try to be conscious in whatever you are doing!

For people who come to this blog for running-related goodies, don’t despair, I have something for you today. See the link for an article by Ross Tucker, PhD, entitled “The barefoot running debate: Born to run, shoes & injury: the latest thinking”.

If you follow TriRudy or this blog, you’ll know I love an intelligent debate. It seems this guy has done his homework. The great thing is that it’s full of information and it should make you think so you can make your own decisions. Isn’t that a wonderful thing?
