#31in31 update: I love running!

It’s been a while since I’ve been this happy running. It’s also getting pretty close to a drug. I guess it’s a bit better for your health and cheaper than crack cocaine…

If you would asked me a few years back about running 31 days in a row for fun, I would have thought you were crazy. But that’s what I’m doing and truly enjoying it. Crazy indeed, maybe I am on crack cocaine!

I’ve missed two days so far including last night. I have good excuses for both but they’re not really valid in the grand scheme of things. I’ll make it up with another double today so I’m all caught up. Then I’ll be able to look at myself in the mirror.

It hasn’t been easy on some nights since it’s dark and cold outside and it’s nice and warm inside. But knowing I might let down someone has kept me going and five minutes into a run and I’ve got a goofy grin on my face.

I find planning it into your day and just getting your running stuff on when the time comes up is the best way to ensure success. Not rocket science!

We’ve been lucky with some great weather in Ottawa so it’s been rather painless. That being said, I’m also looking forward to running in a slightly warmer climate (Windsor) and in shorts (Florida) before this thing is over.

How are you doing? Anyone at 5 runs for the month? 10? 15?

As for another update, Blaise Dubois and the good folks from therunningclinic.ca have completed their four-part blog series on hydration.

It’s definitely worth a look, especially for folks looking to do more distance this year. Some of the findings will surprise you!
